Leslie's Story
Long days and longer nights
giving way to longer hours still
weeks pass, months move slowly
but the passing of time doesn't change how I feel
and somewhere you are buried deep in my dreams
where dogwood petals drift lazily in the air
and sun shines down on grass so green
these are the days that I wish I was there
white dresses, flashing eyes, bare feet
laughter echoes breaking the silence
surrounded by the scent of honeysuckles and roses
bright summer day standing against darkness defiant
you are my sunshine, my only sun...Expand for more
shine
funny how stupid that sounds to my ears
yet somewhere in my heart, the truth of it lies
and only surrender releases me from fear
So let me run across fields and those meadows
I can fly higher than angels and fall just as far
hillsides spotted with daisies and dandelions,
but only in the night, in your arms can I see the stars
Deep in the winter of my discontent, a single ray of light
brighter, expanding, breathing, growing, consuming
a small sun becoming bigger and brighter still
this because of you, making me human
